Sonia\nTerron <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DISCUSSANTS: Dr. Willibald\nSonnleitner and Dr. Clayton Cunha Filho<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New technologies have&nbsp;rapidly and&nbsp;profoundly\naffected&nbsp;our&nbsp;societies, economy&nbsp;and politics in recent decades.\nGPS and digital cartography enabled new models&nbsp;of urban transport, company\nand work relationships. Voters are increasingly turning to the internet\nand&nbsp;to&nbsp;social networks for&nbsp;political&nbsp;information\nand&nbsp;to&nbsp;exchange&nbsp;their&nbsp;views. Fake news&nbsp;thus became\nviral&nbsp;and may have influenced the&nbsp;dynamics and outcomes&nbsp;of\nrecent elections. On the other hand, all Latin American\ncountries&nbsp;still&nbsp;continue to have their violent and poor corners to\nadminister. Inequality casts its shadow on rising violence, on the high cost of\npublic policy and the economy; and the geographical context, as conceptualized\nby Agnew,&nbsp;still&nbsp;matters!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Research Group&nbsp;of Spatial Analysis&nbsp;of\nthe Latin American Political Science Association&nbsp;(ALACIP), our main\nobjective is to encourage the development of studies and research using\nthe&nbsp;broad&nbsp;list of methods and techniques of spatial analysis to\nunderstand political issues and to evaluate and find new solutions for public\npolicies.
