The Experiments in Governance and Politics Network (EGAP) is selecting 10 new members from Africa, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa, and Asia — including a mix of researchers and organizations. The round will be open across disciplines and follow the general procedures described in Articles 1 and 2 of the bylaws. Specifically, individual members are researchers who have achieved distinction in the design, implementation, or analysis of experiments on politics and governance. Institutional members are organizations engaged in policy making, program implementation or impact evaluation, whether governmental or non-governmental, with demonstrated interest or expertise in the use of experimental methods.
What is EGAP? EGAP is a network of researchers and organizations dedicated to designing and implementing experimental research on topics of governance, politics, and institutions. EGAP seeks to forge partnerships between researchers and practitioners committed to high quality research on the politics of global development, advance evidence-based policy making, and improve the quality of experiments in the social sciences. Our members design and implement field experiments throughout the world. From impact evaluations of anti-poverty projects in developing countries, to get out the vote campaigns for national elections in the U. S., to anti-corruption campaigns in Brazil, our work addresses today’s most important questions in the field of government and politics. EGAP meets a few times year (with travel costs covered) to present and review research designs, share results and findings of finished work, and to discuss advances in the field. Results from research are shared with policy makers and development agencies through regular policy fora, biannual meetings, methods guides, and policy briefs.
