UFMG, Belo Horizonte 13-14 November
Political scientists from different parts of the world are dedicated to studies on the Executive Power. The knowledge produced in this area has already resulted in important insights, especially on the variations of this structure among different regions and government systems. The focus on presidential systems requires that researchers investigate the operation and development of the Presidency as an office which coordinates this structure.
The 2nd International Conference on Comparative Presidential Studies and Presidentialism (CPSP) is promoted by the Center for Legislative Studies (CEL-DCP) at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG).
CEL-DCP was created in 2005 and functions along with the Graduate Program in Political Science (UFMG). The Center has partnerships and cooperation agreements with the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies and the Legislative Assembly of the state of Minas Gerais; the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE); the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA/Germany); and, the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain). Currently, researchers from CEL-DCP are conducting studies of the Executive branch and its internal decision-making processes and the political dynamic of multi-party cabinets.
